DynTemp® - Continuous fiber optic temperature measurement in liquid steel

Erkrath 25.08.2022 - With DynTemp®, an innovative system for local fiber optic temperature measurement, MINKON is setting new standards in the process monitoring of metallurgical processes. The system was developed in close cooperation with the VDEh-Betriebsforschungsinstitut (BFI) and enables high-resolution, continuous recording of the so-called hot-spot temperature during the treatment process.

The precise in-situ detection of thermal changes in the melt allows critical metallurgical reactions such as decarburization or metal oxidation to be monitored in real time. DynTempthe ® system thus allows an immediate assessment of the local melt temperature and provides valuable information for process control and optimization.

The DynTemp® system continuously feeds a specially developed optical fiber into the molten metal. Depending on the application, the existing process infrastructure such as rinsing lances or bottom rinsing systems or an optimized measuring nozzle specially developed for the DynTemp® can be used for this purpose. The heat radiation emitted by the molten metal is transmitted without delay via the fiber to a high-precision pyrometer.

Thanks to the continuous and positionally accurate temperature measurement, DynTemp® enables exact control of the thermal process. This database makes a significant contribution to optimizing the use of energy, shortening process times, reducing wear and simultaneously ensuring product quality.

DynTemp® is therefore a forward-looking solution for modern steelworks that want to further develop their processes based on data and conserve resources. Click here for the product.
