HydroKon Hydrogen measuring probes

The MINKON HydroKon hydrogen probes enable optimal process monitoring of critical levels of dissolved hydrogen, which can significantly affect the mechanical properties of steel and potentially lead to critical defects.

These probes provide a lag-free measurement result directly from the melt, enabling steelmakers to quickly detect the hydrogen content. The information obtained can then be used to adjust the parameters for subsequent treatment.

Robust and compatible

The MINKON HydroKon hydrogen measuring probes are fully compatible with existing measuring systems and deliver results that are 100% comparable with the established probes in use. Manufactured from high quality materials, the MINKON HydroKon probes guarantee reliable, precise and reproducible measurements.

MINKON HydroKon Probes are available for different measuring principles:

Closed loop (CL)
The continuous circulation of the carrier gas creates an equilibrium of the hydrogen content in the closed loop system. This equilibrium makes it possible to precisely determine the hydrogen content in the liquid steel by carrying out a Sievert equilibrium measurement.

Open circuit (OP)
In contrast to the closed circuit, the equilibrium in the open circuit is not created in the circulating system, but directly in the measuring probe. This method is particularly suitable for high-alloy or titanium-alloy grades.
