Vacuum pipettes

The MINKON vacuum pipettes are primarily used to determine dissolved hydrogen in steel and are available in various diameters and lengths. They enable precise process monitoring, as dissolved hydrogen can significantly impair the mechanical properties of steel and lead to critical defects. The measured values obtained can be used to optimize processes and treatment parameters. Prompt laboratory analysis using hot extraction is essential for accurate hydrogen determination.

Material & application

  • High-quality borosilicate glass, alternatively available in quartz glass version
  • Removal of the rod sample directly from the mold or casting spoon
  • Rapid quenching in water or liquid nitrogen to fix the condition
  • Preservation in dry ice/acetone (-70°C) or liquid nitrogen (-196°C) until analysis
