Equalizing line

Compensation cables act as connecting elements between the thermocouple and the reference junction in the measuring system. They consist of specific substitute materials that have comparable thermoelectric properties within the temperature range defined in DIN 43722.

Functional principle

According to the law of the homogeneous circuit, the material between the measuring and reference junction must be uniform in order to minimize thermal influences on the measuring signal. Although it would theoretically also be possible to extend the thermocouple directly to the cold junction, this is generally avoided for economic and manufacturing reasons. Instead, compensating cables are used, which represent an equivalent and cost-efficient alternative.

Properties

  • Compatibility: Suitable for thermocouple types S, R and B
  • Material selection: Available as solid or stranded conductors depending on requirements
  • Variability: Choice between different numbers of cores, shielding and Isolation materials
  • Special Isolation: options with glass silk or copper sheathing for demanding applications

Our compensating and thermocouple cables ensure precise and reliable signal transmission and are ideal for use in industrial measurement and control systems.
